The final verdict on my request for a refund from American Laser Centers is...denied. The office took several pictures of the areas that I was disputing, and submitted them to the "medial team" or whatever. Taking the pictures was the most unprofessional experience ever. This is nothing against the technician who took them, but unfortunately, they did not provide her training with how to best use the camera. If you don't know how to work a digital camera inside, you can get very bad photographs. And for something like this, when you need to capture visual details of your skin, and how many hair follicles are empty, this will not cut it.
The digital camera was tiny, and much less sophisticated than my basic Canon Powershot A610. I had to help the girl figure it out, and ended up taking pictures myself. I took them to the front desk, and politely insisted that the manager download them into her computer so that I could be sure it had happened. When I got home, I took more pictures with my camera, which turned out better and revealed more stubble detail, and emailed them to her.
After about two weeks, she responded with the news that the medical team advised me to continue getting treatments. Mind you, I've had 15 treatments. I'm no scientist, but I don't know the total effects of laser hair removal, and I already have one mystery freckle that wasn't there before, so doing more treatments is not an option for me. She also offered free treatments in other areas, which of course I did not take.
The next step would be to file a claim against them with the Better Business Bureau. My treatment was $2000 and I want half of it back. At this time, I am building and managing two businesses (and a few blogs!), so it's hard to dedicate the time to do this. I have seen and appreciate the comments on this blog from people who want to organize. I am an organizer at heart, but I'm not feeling like I can lead the charge on this one. I do feel that American Laser Center is a total scam and is ineffective for most people. It seems that their training of office people is extremely inconsistent, based on the different stories this blog has gotten regarding customer service.
So at this time, I think my roll in all of this is to be an outlet to people as they do online research, to warn them not to go with American Laser Centers. That everyone wins that stupid $300 prize, and that most likely, you will NOT be done in 6 appointments. If I suddenly learn more about how to file a claim, I may do it. Hopefully there is not a time issue, but there probably is. So...I may be googling it... ;)

American Laser Centers: Request for Refund
Hi those of you who are following the laser hair removal process. As you know, I've remained pretty positive about my results, and about the people in my office for American Laser Centers. Today was my 15th appointment. After my 10th appointment, when the manager got very defensive after I voiced concern over the lack of results (results being no hair any more, not just hair reduction in some places), I began to see no more results. She switched me to a "new" machine that went to 50. Unlike some of you out there, I don't know the name of it. I can't keep up with these "Amerilight Whatevers" I easily went to the setting of 40, which according to some technicians in the office, was not common and was high.
I didn't blog about my 13th or 14th appointments because they became boring. Although I enjoyed my time talking to the technician during the process, I went home hopeful that less would grow in. However, not much would change, and it was a downer until the next appointment.
I went to my 15th appointment this morning, which had to be rescheduled b/c my husband had to go to jury duty for my previous appointment and someone needed to be home to receive a package. I rescheduled it for some time later because it seemed that my regular technician wanted me on her watch. So I waited an additional 2 weeks to get onto her calendar. When I showed up this morning, I was with a brand new technician. Normally this would be fine - don't they all do the same thing - but this was a mix up and I wasted those 2 weeks. It is clear to me now that in my case, I am wasting time going to these appointments, and I have requested a refund. I will keep you posted.

ALC Laser Hair Removal :: 12th or 13th Appt? Who can keep track at this point.
Ladies!
Is this my 12th or 13th laser hair appointment with American Laser Centers now? Either we have all fallen pray to the wonderful potential of laser hair removal technology, or American Laser Centers should just not tell people that hair will be totally removed forever. I've seen some kind of hair loss or damage to hair, but not the complete removal they have promised. Click here for a chronological list of my laser posts. It's been 2 years now that I have made time to go to appointments, and all three areas that I am having done - bikini, upper leg, and love trail, are not completely gone. At this rate, my upper leg will never be completely gone of hair. The hair is weaker, and less noticeable. But not gone. The bikini is basically gone, except for one spot that is behind by 2 appointments. But it's way behind.
I think this was my 13th appointment. I must of skipped writing about the 12th appointment out of sheer boredom. What I wanted to tell you about is this: DON'T DRINK COFFEE BEFORE YOU GO. It will be painful. I have experimented enough times with this. Coffee is a stimulant, and it can stimulate sensation. Don't ask me for any studies to back this up, because I haven't done my Google homework. A friend told me this once after an unusually painful waxing session. Well, this laser appointment, I had a delicious fresh cup, and boy was I in pain. So. The beat goes on. Or should I say, laser beam.

Laser Hair Removal Followup: Spring Short Shorts
Hello All,
I wore my first pair of short shorts of the season from Lucky Brand. So they were short! I put them on without a care on whether or not I'd had time to shave. Why? Because that double pass from my 11th appointment was effective. Finally, most of the bikini is not coming back. The thighs are much thinner and very stunted. I was able to skip two shaving sessions on them (my calves have not been done).
That's about all there is to tell you. I'm not putting percentages on it yet, because I try to let it grow out to make sure that nothing comes back, but it's hard to let things grow out when there are only a few little guys coming in. The thighs still have a bit to go, but are at least very patchy to the touch, whereas before, no patchy and all continued stubble.

Laser Hair Removal Review: Appointment #11 The Double Pass
Well Laser Review Researchers, the double pass has proven successful. I was on the more powerful machine, up to at least 40, and maybe higher at times (can't remember). The legs are finally showing signs of relenting, and not just slow growth, but behaving in a way that the other areas (bikini) have already shown. There is more patchiness, and I was able to skip a shaving session, only shaving the lower half of my legs (they have not gotten lasered yet).
And that's really all I can say. We are still not completely done in the areas: thighs, bikini, luv trail. I know that laser hair removal is not permanent but when you see that some hair is totally gone, and the neighboring hair is not, well, it's pretty frustrating, let me tell ya. The Waiting Game is on, a twelfth appointment is booked, and we'll see.

Laser Hair Removal : 10th Appointment. Yes, 10th.
If you've been following this personal series in laser hair removal with me and American Laser Center, you will have noticed that I skipped a post about my 9th appointment. That is because nothing happened after that appointment, and even I was bored with writing about it. For my 10th appointment, which was booked for 2 hours, you can imagine that I was finally a little ticked. I appreciate the lengthy time session, but come on. I can't keep doing this. If you've been following earlier comments and posts, you'll see that I'm really an enthusiast for laser hair removal, and for my American Laser Center office, that used to be on Central Park West but is now on W. 57th Street, just around the corner.
Sadly, I have become one of the frustrated American Laser Center people who find this series when researching on Google. Aside from the fact that nothing happened after my 9th appointment, which used a "new" machine that went up to 50 instead of 30, and I insisted on being at 40 which had been unprecedented in that office before, I finally got the defensive treatment from "management" that so many other girls complain about, as expressed in this review article, for example. Here are some great review comments from customers who did good research, and here are some more truthful review comments where people get upset, and I think I lost a reader. :(
To recap: I am having my thighs, bikini and little love trail done. I'm blond with dark leg hair (if guys are reading this, just know that this is not the article for you, so move on please, unless you are considering laser for your back, for example). The thigh hair has gotten much softer, but there is a lot of little active follicles that are not going away. I used to say 80% gone, but really, it's like 70%. Or maybe even more depressing, 60%. The bikini is truly 85% gone, but again, it's my 10th appointment, so in my opinion, it should be 100% gone. American Laser Center quotes 6 appointments, and then "gives" you 2 extra years, which I thought was a great cushion. But now am realizing that it might be a sad reality. Even more frustrating is when I hear success stories from friends who go to other laser companies and are done in 4 appointments. My Syrian friend, for example, did her face and arm pits, and the hair was gone in 4 appointments. She has just started her arms.
The laser has never hurt me, and I have never seen "hair shedding" or "hair falling out". My last appointment on the supposedly stronger and new machine did finally hurt, and I was on a setting that most others do not go to, or so I was told by the technician. That was for my 9th appointment, and I saw no results. Zero.
As to why I'm mad, and am now an angry American Laser Center customer? The office manager became very defensive with me when I stated a complaint, and blamed me for my poor treatment. The conversation went something like this:
Me: Do other girls take 10 appointments to get rid of hair?
Office Manager: Yes, it varies. Some do.
Me: About how many of them are there? Am I in the minority? The majority? How many other girls take 10 appointments?
Office Manager: Have you been double-something (I forgot the term...means to go over the area twice with the laser)?
Me: No...
Office Manager: Well, you should have been double-something. You are booked today for the double.
Me: I didn't know the double-something existed. I only know that when I booked this appointment, a girl booked me for 2 hours, and that is the first time I've ever been booked for 2 hours. And I was on the new machine last time.
Office Manager: Well, you should have been doing the double, so you are booked for it, and that should help. Next time, just make sure you note that you want the double-something. You're not booked on the new machine this time.
Me: I'm not a laser expert. I did not know about the possibility of the double-something, I just know that I am here for my 10th appointment. And why aren't I on the stronger machine?
Office Manager: If you have been unhappy with your treatment, you should have told me.
Me: I tell the technicians every time I am in an appointment. I ask them every single time if it's normal for others to be here for this long. They just say that it varies, they take a little picture of my skin, and file it away.
Office Manager: Well they have not told me. I should tell them to come to me when clients are unhappy. And I've just had a turn-over of all of my girls, so everyone is new.
Me: I have told all of the girls twice. I told X, I told Y.
Office Manager: Well X and Y aren't here anymore.
Me: I realize that, but they new, twice each of them, and another girl, because I have had so many appointments.
Office Manager: The next time you have an appointment, just make sure to note that you want the stronger machine and the double something.
The conversation kind of fizzled out after that. There was no "I'm so sorry..." or "We should have been doing this..." or "About 10% of people take 10 or more appointments" which leads me to believe that most of them take this long. Which is a damaging way to present a case when you are considering a $2000 investment that thank goodness I have paid off, so now get to be angry.
During my appointment, I expressed, again, these concerns to the technician. I was on my second round with her, meaning, I had had her the last time on the stronger machine. She suggested that perhaps the stronger machine was not good for me, since I had seen zero results, and to maybe continue on the old machine and double up. She said that she has seen differences with the two machines - that some people see results on it while others don't, and vice versa with the old machine.
I'll wait a few weeks before posting again, to see what kind of effect there was. The technician also suggested exfoliating the areas to work out the dead hairs that may be stuck under the skin. Fair enough. Stay tuned, and chime in if you've had a similar experience, or if you've found success under 6 appointments, or if 6 is just a myth.

Should You Tip When You Have Laser Hair Removal Done?
I live in a most over-tipped city - New York - and I'm tipped out. If I pay $2000 or more for a service, especially if that service is charging me interest on the loan I got for it, I've gotta say...no, you do not tip when you have laser hair removal done.
After my first laser appointment, I did tip. My technician and I were very chatty, and she was very nice. In trust, I asked her if people tip. She said that I could if I wanted. Of course. So I tipped, maybe $20. I felt like I was in there for so long, and she was literally doing backbreaking work because she leans over the whole time, that I should tip. I had no cash so I wrote a check. Immediately after I signed the check, I felt it was not necessary. I have not tipped since, and my relationships with the different technicians remains in good standing. They don't hover to wait for a tip. They do re-make the bed while I get myself together, but then the zip on out of the room while I race to keep up to make my next appointment.

Laser Hair Removal : 8th Appointment
The 8th appointment has come and gone. I waited a good 20 days since the appointment to post, to give everything time to admit defeat. As you know, my thighs are very, very stubborn. Here are the stats so far:
thighs: 65% hair loss (but it's a large area)
bikini: 75% hair loss
love trail: 75%
I see that you might be searching for when the hair will "shed" or "fall out." I have never noticed my hair falling out, or shedding. I see that it does not grow back in places. So if it actually falls out, I don't see the pieces. As instructed, I don't pull at it, because that would re-activate the hair follicle somehow. I am only to shave.
That said, my thighs are on the retreat, but the hair is still there, but only grows to about 2 millimeters. Compared with my unshaven calves, my calves can be, you know, woolly, as they would be if you went a few days without shaving in the winter. The thighs, on the other hand, are very noticeably short, like constant soft stubble, but not as prickly.
My one tip for you this time is for the stray pieces of hair in the area that you want zapped. If you shave everything before the appointment, as I'm instructed to do, the technician might not know that there are some stragglers in far left field of your upper thigh. So, I suggest that you do not shave those, and point them out to your technician before she begins. I know they are in a hurry and have other clients. But, patiently take her through all of the areas you want zapped, and you both will be happy.

Laser Hair Removal :: 7th Appointment w Pictures!
In response to several readers' comments that their American Laser Center technicians are not nice, I thought it a good idea to introduce some of the ladies from my American Laser Center office. Just to show that they do exist. Now, I understand that not everyone's technicians are going to be nice. Believe me. I'm just showing the ones that I happen to know.
Yesterday, for my 7th appointment (I have finished my 6 appointments and am now 1 appointment into the 2 years of free appointments), I road my bike down at 9:15am in the morning. The office is at 59th street, so I had to book it down Central Park West with my new Nutcase bike helmet and actually showed up on time at 9:30am!
Emily was my technician, and as usual, it was a gab fest. She's a surfer; had a policy to stop coloring her chestnut colored hair, but couldn't deal with the gray and sun damaged orange, so colored it for her brother's wedding; had a brother that got married this summer just like me; is a gemini (I think) just like me; is obsessed with curly hair products just like me except that she really has curly hair; and on and on.

Emily is pictured here with the laser gun (the laser part is only about 2" big on the tip - see it in the middle?), wearing her protective green goggles, standing next to the terribly cold bottles of ultrasound goopy jell, that for me, is truly the worst part of the whole experience. With a wooden stick, she spreads it on the area she's going to laser, and then places that laser gun down on my leg or whatever, presses the trigger, the laser shoots through to the hair follicle, and she moves to the next inch on my leg and repeats.
And now meet Claudia. Claudia is the super nice manager who takes all of my calls, even my first one after my first appointment when I said: "I have the red dots on my legs! What do I do!!" and Claudia calmly said: "Did you take a hot shower?" and I said: "Yes..." and she said: "Well, put the after laser lotion on and call me if they don't go away." And of course they went away.

Claudia is seated at her desk, where she schedules appointments, consults with clients, and many more activities. She's always considerate and a joy to see. She even let me keep my bike in her office for safe keeping during my appointment.
So now you've met some of the girls in my office. Seriously, if you are in Manhattan (nyc), you should go to this office. It's the 59th street and Central Park South office. Tell Claudia I sent cha. ;) If you go, you'll have celebrity sitings because they are right next to the Essex hotel. The first time I went, I saw Gene Hackman. Yesterday, I saw all of these US Open tennis players with their tennis racquet's - dark and handsome ones.
Here are some quick pictures from my bike ride home, which I took through the Park up the Inner Drive going up the East side:

I took this picture while riding with my iPhone and listening to Tunes in one ear. Taking that picture was very dangerous. Do not try this at home.

I was going to climb the big hill at the top of Central Park, but I spotted these police dogs training in the ball fields! So I had to stop and take a bazillion photos.

Laser Hair Removal : 6th Appointment
I had the 6th appointment a few weeks ago. I waited to post so that I could study a few rounds of shaving to see how my legs are doing. The nutshell version: the hairs on my thighs are tough, tough little buggers. They will not die. They are weakening. The bikini and love trail are disappearing. I have only stragglers. And on a new part of my bikini (I decided late in the game to laser more of the area) it is showing batchy-ness, which means that there are circles of no growth. So, bikini and love trail are taking to the laser more effectively, and the legs are taking longer.
Now, as I've stated, my technicians are very nice. I've had 3 of them, and there is one that I get frequently and we always like to catch up. As nice as they are, for my 6th appointment, I was upset. I was actually late to my appointment, as I frequently am and have to reschedule half of my appointment, but I still went in frustrated. At my American Laser Center office, they like for you to shave, or else charge you extra for dry shaving with a cheap Bic (ouch and razor burn). But, I was not going to pay, as I wanted the technician to see for herself, with her expert eyes, on how my leg hair is doing. The technician took a picture, as she usually does, and asked if I was pleased. I flatly said NO. It's been too long, I said. She said that she doesn't lie to her patients, and it can take 8 or 10 rounds for people. Even though she was probably upset with me for being late, she was visibly concerned that I was unsatisfied. To be fair, I think she and definitely the office manager who I had a consultation with and signed me up, did imply that the hair would be gone in 6 rounds. But with the 2 years of free appointments to clean up. I should have known that the 2 years were there for a reason. But, everyone loses the hair at different speeds.
So. Did the 6th round affect my leg hair? It really did. The hair is growing more slowly still, and not as prickly. I compare it to my lower leg that has not had any laser treatments. My leg hair is proving stubborn. But that is why I got it lasered in the first place. I didn't just invest in laser hair removal as a cosmetic luxury. I invested because I get ingrowns on my bikini which are painful and ugly; because my thigh hair is so prickly and irritating on my skin, especially in the summer; because I have good legs but don't show them in the summer because of these stated reasons.
Am I happy? Am I glad I invested? Yes. It is so hot here in NYC, and finally I am wearing short shorts. The shortest shorts I've probably ever worn. Short shorts that I would even go out running in, when they could pass for boy-shorts, if you know what I mean. I am not getting ingrowns. My bikini and love trail are almost gone. My leg hair is on the retreat, but is softer. I am not paranoid about ugly, prickly hair that I forgot to shave when I put shorts on.
Saving graces or added bonuses? When my technicians ask me in one appointment if I'm losing weight, and in another appointment if I'm a runner because my back legs are so "toned." If only my stomach and non-existent abs could have a similar affect on people!

Short Shorts, Lasered Legs, American Eagle
In the car, especially in shorts, let's just say you need a smooth shave with no razor bumps to look good. I have skinny legs, with muscle I might add, but rarely over the years have they seen the sunshine because I've been so lacking good-leg confidence. Hence the laser hair removal. So in a car, you do a lot of looking around, and I studied the hair follicle of my thigh, because that is what has been getting lasered. I'm pretty sure what I saw were empty follicles. Like, no black shadow under the skin where the hair follicle is just waiting to grow its prickly growth.
Enter American Eagle, where all of the girls look 13, and I'm about turn 30. Loving American Eagle right now, and their short shorts and cottony Ts. They've got good Clearance, but it's all still affordable. So good, in fact, that I was on this morning to buy a sand colored striped skinny hoody, and by the time I went to buy it as I typed this post, it was gone!

Laser Hair Removal :: 5.5th Appointment for Bikini
I always learn something at my laser hair removal appointments! This was a 5 1/2 appointment because I was so late to my other one, that the esthetician could "only" do my thighs, which take forever. Again - no pain for me. But then again, I think I finally see a purpose for my pale skin and dark leg hair - to have relatively pain-free laser hair removal!
Today I came with a few questions, and tried to absorb them all for you. It's not like I'm lying on my back, scribbling notes on a pad of paper. So, here were my questions:
The esthetician said that the cool ultrasound jelly stuff that acts as a conductor also leaves track marks, like lines in the sand. So she can see exactly where she's been.
I have one more appointment to go. Then I'll be in the 2-years zone of getting touchups for hair that has is on a weird growth cycle and missed the laser, or what. Meanwhile, I finally paid attention to my CreditCare bill for when I financed this expedition, and sure enough, it did remind me that if I did not pay the full amount by the time the year was up, I would have to pay the deferred APR amount, which is about $400-$550 when it's through! So I made a giant payment to complete it, but saw that I did miss 2 minimum payments. This also disqualifies me from the deferred payment plan!! Ack! So we will see if that deferred payment shows up on my bill come July. Geeze.

Today I came with a few questions, and tried to absorb them all for you. It's not like I'm lying on my back, scribbling notes on a pad of paper. So, here were my questions:
I've left my thigh - that has been through 5 appointments - unshaved. Can you compare it with my calf, which has had no appointments with the laser, and tell me if you can see or feel a difference?
The esthetician felt my thigh and calf to check for a difference. But most importantly, she said, she could see the difference in the hair follicles. She looks at follicles all day, so I'm taking her word for it. She said that if I were to let it grow out and skip a hair cycle (which is when the appointments are made), it would look batchy. I guess my thigh does look smoother, and it does feel smooth...Someone commented on my blog that she heard that American Laser Centers do not, in fact, use lasers. Is this true? Isn't that thing over there connected to an electrical box on wheels next to my head that you grab and shoot into my leg a laser?
The esthetician look stunned, and assured me that is in fact a laser. It is called an AmeriLite, the same laser that all American Laser Centers use. She says that she needs to spread the cold jelly on my skin to act as a "conductor" (meaning a conductor of laser electricity) for the laser beam. The laser head itself is about 1" long by .5" wide, and it is cold as well. I had never noticed that it was cold, but she put it on my arm without lasering me, and sure enough, it was very cold. She says it needs to be cold because the laser light is so hot, that it has to be cold. Are you sure you're getting everything? How do you know if you miss a spot? That little laser head is kind of small.
The esthetician said that the cool ultrasound jelly stuff that acts as a conductor also leaves track marks, like lines in the sand. So she can see exactly where she's been.

CareCredit for Laser Hair Treatment :: Be Alert!!
Mistas - You know that I signed up for the promotional CareCredit card through GEOnline when I got my laser hair removal package. It was the 0% APR for a year deal. If I paid the whole thing off within a year, I would not pay the APR fees. What I did NOT know, was that if I did NOT pay it in a year, the DEFERRED APR fees will be charged of me.
Yuck!
When it comes to savviness with credit cards, I am OK. I'm not super savvy, but I do make sure to make all payments on time, and I transfer my one large balance to new 0% APRs after the first year of the promotional date. However, I've never had the situation where I pay the deferred finance charge. When I got my cool glasses through a similar card through City Bank, who is the Devil, when I was paying a bill, I noticed the tiny fine print about a deferred finance charge. But the message was a little cryptic. Not trusting it, I transfered it right away to my big 0% APR card to get rid of any unexpected finance charge. This must have been what they were talking about.
Here's the message I've been getting on my CareCredit statements. Keep in mind, this is a "health" credit card, so they encourage you to use it for the vet, dentist maybe, healthy stuff. Luckily I kept it in my file of Unused Credit Cards Waiting to be Paid Off and never in my wallet.
"No Finance Charges will be incurred on the amount of a Deferred Interest promotional purchase if you pay the promotional purchase amount in full by the indicated Due Date and (as applicable) you pay at least any Minimum Payment Due on your Account each month when due. If a promotional purchase amount is not paid in full by the indicated Due Date, Finance Charges will (or if any Minimum Payment Due is not paid when due, may) be assessed on this amount from the transaction date (or, at creditors option, from the posting date)."
The total deferred finance charge is shown below this statement, but I always thought it was a way to show me what I saved. Duh. Wrong.
Don't know about you, but that's not exactly easy and clear for me to understand. CareCredit has since changed the design of their statement. It now says this, which has alerted me more clearly. It now says this:
"You will incur no Finance Charges on a Deferred Interest promotional purchase, provided the promotional purchase amount is paid in full by the indicated Due Date and you pay any applicable Minimum Payment Due on your Account by the Payment Due Date. If you do not pay the amount in full by the indicated Due Date, Finance Charges accrued from the date of purchase will (or if any Minimum Payment is not paid when due, may) be added to your account."
I'm still a little foggy on this, but even as I type it, I think I just understood a new meaning. Shoot. It says that not only will I have to pay the deferred finance charge if I don't pay it off by my year date, which so far for me is $309.47, if I missed any minimums, which I did once and maybe twice because I swear that their statements are sent on a longer than 30-day rotation period, I may also have to pay it. Ahh!
So Mistas - be super aware of these promotional deals. I of course paid way more than the minimum payment, and last month basically double paid my amount, which is 4x the minimum, so I'm finally under $1000 due. Yay. But this baby better get paid by me in two months, or you will be hearing a very unhappy FashionMista.

Laser Hair Removal :: Appointment #5
Today's was an interesting appointment. I had a morning that involved some tough but expected news which involved tears. So whenever that happens, I'm pretty much in a non-caring mood, meaning, I pretty much deal with things in black and white instead of over-caring for someones feelings or the like. The same thing happens when I'm sick.
Needless to say I was late for this appointment with the laser, not that that is any surprise, because I am late to many things. Unfortunately, I did have to miss the bikini portion of the laser, since I cut into my appointment so much. The esthitian who I like so much (I like all of them, really, but she was my first, so we have a bond) did ask what I wanted to do, but in my black and white state, I just stated that I didn't care, and to do whatever she wanted. I was late after all.
Lying on the table, defensive about my own lateness, I huffily pointed out that I am still shaving. She saw a few thin leg hairs on my upper thigh and thought that's what all of my leg hairs look like (not so), and thought things were getting better. But, I pointed out that those little guys are always thin, so it was no different. Actually, I would have thought they'd be gone by now because they were so thin. So, she quickly shaved them away and squirted the jelly, which was actually warm this time because the room was so warm. What a difference! It felt almost nice! Normally that jelly for the laser is ice-cold and is the worst part of the lasering.
Remember people: when going to your laser appointment, shave everything, or suffer the razor burn. My top thighs where she had to shave basically feel like they have been sunburned, but it's a patchy red glob that will never turn tan. I've been applying the AmeriPure After Burn lotion on them, which American Laser Centers recommends right after they laser you, and is in fact applied by them after they laser an area. That should work. We will see.
Otherwise, my appointment was at 8am, which is nice for not talking, drinking Starbucks and reading a book. I just finished the Narnia Chronicles, and am on to This Book Will Save Your Life by A.M. Holmes. I don't think I need a life saving at the moment, since I'm making moves to save it every day, but I've heard that she is a great writer, and am enjoying it thoroughly.
When I "allowed" us to talk at the very end of the appointment while I was on my front so she could do the back legs, I asked about the 2 year ongoing appointments, because it appears as though I will need them. She says they are of course honored. I then asked about this new laser technology they are using, saying how a Mista asked about it and was disappointed to learn that the laser changed. The esthitian was surprised, because she knew there was money involved in changing the lasers, and I have to agree that the company would most likely not make a decision to install ineffective lasers. It would be bad for business, right? I'm trying to remember if this one hurt or not. To tell you the truth, in Appointment #4, it did hurt more than usual. And I think it was my first time on their new laser (I've had both since they switched). Well, with this better technology, maybe now I'll stop shaving...?
