Meet the Havanese aka Ewokian Puppy Dogs in Pictures
Puppies!! These are Ewokian puppies, or a mix between Havanese and Pomeranian. Hypo-allergenic. Scroll down to see Granny Rose rolling the puppies around in their pram!
NOTE: As of September 2007, these puppies have all found wonderful homes in the neighborhood. I encourage you to continue seeking out puppy mixes, as you can see, they are just as good as full breeds!

This is Baby Kumba. Maybe the most mellow dog in the litter. Kumba is currently smaller than both of my mom's cats, but the same color as one of them, named Stinky.

On the back far right, with those black eyes, I think, is Baby Gina. As Rose says, she is so feminine, so delicate, that she is never in the mix to be picked up or making trouble. She just doesn't make herself obvious. Just perfectly sits sweetly all the time.

Here is Gina chewing on a sparkly FashionMista. So girly of her. So now I know that FashionMistas are not only cat toys, but puppy toys as well!

Ok. My first love of this litter was the guy to the left of Baby Gerdy. His name is Huck Fin because he slept on his back at all times, and was very much his own, relaxed guy on his own journey. He's the one with the white stripe down his chest, looking into the camera, like, "Let me out now so that I can strut around." Here's a picture of what he looked like at 1 week old, in my hand.

Escape artists. All of them. That's Huck Fin on the left, Baby Gerdy on the right, and maybe Baby Gina in the middle.

Baby Gerdy, practicing being a Big Girl under the table. She's a quick learner.

That's Dinah Bear watching Baby Gerdy from my desk. See how Baby Gerdy's tail is up? All of the puppies tails are up and wag like helicopters.

Baby Gerdy hoping that one day Gerdy will acknowledge her. But Gerdy is in her sacred spot in front of the couch, and not even me or David can disturb her without an offering of our dinner.

Sweet Gerdy. Surrounded by 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 6 puppies.

Baby Kumba and my feet.

Oliver watching for if a puppy came out of the pen. Actually, he looks like he is taking a nap.

Baby Kumba on top of my shoes. Not just chewing on my shoes, but is as long as my shoes. I'm a 9.

OMG. Pretty much they all look like this, but again, it's Baby Kumba under the table.

More practice of hanging with the Big Girls.

Rose and her pram, with Baby Gerdy standing and giving directions. I know she's in all of the pictures, but 1. she photographs the best b/c she's not pitch black, and 2. she's the leader of the pack. So she's always there.

Camp FashionMista for Ewokian Gerdy-Look-Alike Puppies
You may have noticed that there have not been many fashion posts here lately, and that is because it is June and June means that there are all sorts of crazy plans involving going out of town, and new adventures like...housing pups! I am officially an off the rocker animal person, but it's all quite normal really. Gerdy's dog sitter had these pups, as we know, and they needed a place to stay for a little bit while Rose set up house at her house, so with David out of town at Yale, and with the new space I made in the bedroom, I invited Rose and the Ewokian puppies and their mom and auntie to all stay over in air conditioning while I work and then go to a wedding over the weekend. The cats are taking it surprisingly well, but Oliver knows he's fine with his massive claws, so he just tortures whoever tries to stare him down.

Here are the puppies play fighting in their little pen. They are about 5 weeks old right now, and looks like baby bears.

Snuggle Muffins. All of them are snuggle muffins. That's the mom, Oolie.

Even though they are snuggle muffins, they are little escape artists. Here, they are plotting to get out of the giant pen.

And remember, an Ewokian is a mix between a Havanese and a Pomeranian. Woa.
So. Here are the Ewokian Puppy Pictures
OMG. Gerdy is checking out the little Baby Gerdy. This Baby Gerdy is the leader of the pack, and super smart. Here are the puppies play fighting in their little pen. They are about 5 weeks old right now, and looks like baby bears.

Should Gerdy Get a Baby Gerdy?
Being so close to my birthday (and now is my birthday), David is actually entertaining the idea of adopting a puppy from the litter of Havanese/Pomeranian mixes that Gerdy's much loved dog walker had. Rather, that her little dog Oolie had (no idea how to spell that...sounds like "ooo-lie"). I was really pushing for a little dog for my mom. One of the little black ones who I call Huck Fin because he lays on his back all day and has not a care in the world.
This dog, which is called an Ewokian b/c it is a mix between a Havanese and a Pomeranian, could be a Baby Gerdy. This picture is from two weeks ago, and her fur has sprung to life, much in the fashion of a baby chic. Here are pictures of them at 5.5 weeks.

And here is lovely Gerdy, who also has fur like a chic, or a lamb:

Gerdy is so maternal, and can only play so much with the cats, especially when Oliver doesn't swat at her. I think she could really have fun with the little pup. Or she could really not like the little pup! We will officially live in a Zoo, a fact which I have denied up until this point.
But if we do get her, then Gerdy might really like her and have a whole new life experience. She would be tiny, so would be portable in cute Juicy Couture dog bags and such. I think my mom is going to adopt Huck Fin, so the whole family can stay together!

My New iGoogle Fox Friend and Other Pics
Hi People! It's been a while since I wrote, or seemed like it anyway. It's been quiet here in my little studio off the kitchen. I'm actually enjoying the "silence," which consists of church bells on the hour, sirens, birds, some strange mega-phone-fest with kids in the projects accross the street, etc. All last week workmen were working on the building and had hoisted themselves up on those window-washer-man things right outside my bedroom window and had blasted into the side of the building for days, until finally it rained and they had to stop.
But this post is about my new iGoogle fox friend that I found while doing a virtual demo with a nice sales guy at Vertical Response, an e-newsletter company. I saw that he had it on his computer, and I just HAD to have my own! I'm alone here during the day, and the grocery workers downstairs think I no longer work (when I get dressed up, they say: "Oh, you're going to work!?!), but I'm really not alone with Dinah, Oliver and Gerdy, and now the painter man named Abree, and his Pakistani roof-fixer friend who actually never fixes the roof the whole way hence the painter man. And then there's the Super, Derek, who comes every now and then when I call in a panic if I open the top part of the giant window in my studio and it's lost its springs and won't stay up, which only means that Dinah or Oliver could jump out at any moment, which would be bad because we live many stories up.
Back to the iGoogle Tea House Fox, as he's called. So you can have him too, in your personalized Google. He changes throughout the day! He has tea, does laundry, picks oranges, and fishes at night! And there is a night! And the little fishes in the pond move, I think. This is going to be like Where's Waldo, where I get to see what is different.

Another exciting thing. I have been watching a storm come down from Harlem all the way to our little block, and now it's very dark all around and I actually need to turn on some lights to see. When I say dark, I mean after dinner dark, but it's only 4pm. The wind is whipping through the kitchen. Love storms. Here comes the thunder. Gerdy has come over because she's scared, but she'll probably scamper into the bathroom in a minute, like anyone would in a thunderstorm to seek protection. Dinah has decided to curl up on my lap becauses it's 4pm and she's getting me ready aka annoying me, to feed her. Oh, Gerdy has decided against the bathroom in favor of my feet under the desk.
Ok, since you asked, here are pictures of Dinah and Oliver as hungry kitties:

And since you wondered what I did yesterday, here's a picture of the baby puppy that I held, who was born to a lovely Havanese dog (she got knocked up by a Pomeranian). This is the dog of Gerdy's dog walker. The mixed breed is actually called Ewokian, because they look like Ewoks. Cute!!

Hi From Dinah and Oliver
We haven't seen them in a while, so they requested to be put on the blog. Actually, I've been making little movies of Oliver with my digital camera for YouTube (trying to start an Oliver the Terrible series), but the movies are over 10mb and I don't know how to compress them with my Standard QuickTime and iMovie. If anyone has any suggestions, do share! The movies area awfully cute. Like how Oliver didn't know what do do about the new plastic liner in the kitty litter box.
Oliver in the bathroom on my shirt.

Oliver watching me hook up my new Panasonic fax machine w/ cordless phone at midnight, which I love.

Dinah stalking my Honey Nut Cheerios (I was completely influenced by the new Honey Nut Cheerio wedding commercial where they are all eating crispy honey nut cheerios all the time)

A quick 17 second clip of Oliver and Dinah in the sink:

No More Candles for Katie
I got grounded. David's hiding all of the matches from me until I can learn to remember to blow out candles when I leave the house. He is already upset about moving up here (we were neighbors on a lower floor, then I moved several stories up, and then I invited him to join me) without a window ladder of some kind for us to climb down in case of a fire. Lord knows what I'd do with the animals.
...so dangerous, but it looked so cool melted! And it smelled so good.

So gross, I know. Dinah is who gave it away when we came in last night. She had clumpy stuff on her whiskers, and more clumpy stuff on her ear. It wouldn't come off, and at first I thought the wax was kitty litter. Dinah likes to clean things around the house by covering/burying them, so I suspect that is what she tried to do with the candle wax, that dripped and splattered all over the floor. Good thing that piece of electronic equipment is just for show b/c I keep forgetting to throw it out.

Oliver - Evidence
I used to like Oliver, and was going to post a cute picture of him digging out fresh kitty litter from the Arm and Hammer box, but then he turned into a monster. First it was the polkadot tulle...(see those claws???)

And now it's my irreplaceable yard of embroidered silk that matches perfectly with my wall. This is way worse than his little scratches on David's leather couch. This was the last yard - interruption: David has insisted I include that his couch is (was) worth $3000 - this was the last yard of this embroidered silk and it was my first curtain and I was just admiring how little pieces of the flowers were pale pumpkin orange, the same pale pumpkin orange that is the walls of my sewing room.

Ripped. Slashed. Broken.
Here's the stupid picture of Oliver digging out fresh kitty litter. I post this with a pout.

Progress on the DebtOMeter
PS: The funniest part about Oliver getting his shots today was that they made him lethargic, but he still tried to bug Dinah while she was sleeping on the couch. So he sneaked over and pulled a spring attack on her...his poor front leg (where the shot happened) failed him, but he did no deter, and continued to press into Dinah in the most pathetic way! Usually he grabs her with both arms. It was too funny.

Free Wireless from Jet Blue at JFK
Honestly, there is nothing better than getting to the airport in one piece, if not severely disheveled and taken apart, only to come to the end of the airport rainbow and find a pot of wireless. Not sure if it's in other terminals, but JetBlue is so hooked up to computers right now, with about a bazillion kiosks that you must sign in at before handing your luggage off. It is worth the fricking $55 cab ride to feel like a real and civilized person, blogging and reading Elle.
Luggage-wise, the people here at JFK must not wear a thing. I'm seeing nearly flat carry-ons - with room. They don't look like they're going to baggage claim. It's Thanksgiving week, so they must be traveling for at least three days...how could they not have checked??
Before I left (and the taxi was coming in 10 minutes), I saw that I am starving poor Oliver. Didn't read the feeding instructions on the catfood, and so didn't see that I need to give him twice the amount Dinah is getting. That meant I was low on canned Merrick cat food and literally called on all of my days of not running this week in the morning, and sprinted the 5 blocks to the pet store to quickly stock up - and back. Which got me thinking. Oliver and Dinah need a very stylish cat carrier. Here's what I've found so far whil sitting in JFK listing to the wonderfullness of cheesy old love songs by Vanessa Williams in between boarding calls.

Ahh! Got to go...boarding all rows!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Stop Me - Oliver on the Bike
Can't stop taking pictures of Oliver! He's too crazy. Not sure how long he was out in the world as an ophan, but he certainly is a scavenger! He's as bad as the worst begging dogs in Central Park. Just two nights ago, he just stole a chicken bone from my plate before I threw it away and was munching on it.
Here's the little acrobat:

Announcing...Oliver
After one Saturday of lounging, pawing, hissing and trouncing, we have decided to keep the new kitten. As he is quite good at stalking Dinah on his hind legs with his forepaws outstretched and ready to grab, we have named him Oliver the Terrible. We can't even catch on camera the times he spread eagles and flies from the couch to trounce Dinah!
This is a picture-fest of Oliver, but Dinah is forever my muse.

Of course, we would not keep Oliver if Dinah was unhappy. Truth is, she is consistantly curious about him, plays with him, and came right over when we were clipping his nails (he meowed-and-meant it for the first time) to make sure he was ok.
