Fresh from the hair dresser, Alice Band, my once very straight, very bleached-damaged, very "mad at me" hair has health and style! My hair was dreading in the morning. Not the sexy, just-got-out-of-bed Farah Fawcett look. It was a weed. To combat it, the hair dresser at Daily Candy NY supported Alice Band gave me some layers, color and tips.
Healthy Hair Quick Tip:
Don't shampoo all of your hair every day. If you wash your hair every day, put some cheap, good smelling conditioner like Finesse or Dove on the bottom half of your hair BEFORE you shampoo. While it's on, shampoo the roots of your hair and rinse. This will condition your hair without drying it out from too much shampooing. The conditioner will clean your hair. Once a week, shampoo your whole head (or more if your hair looks like it needs a whole wash).
Healthy, Cool Color:
Use color as a highlight, not bleach, for obvious reasons. Make the highlights chunky, not pencil thin. If you hairdresser-hop and don't request a type of highlight, then the new hair dresser sees pencil thin highlights (which are very common) and will just repeat that style. You must ask for the wider, about half inch to a full inch wide. This gives a sexy, sophisticated and casual lift, instead of the Ann Taylor, conservative look.
Love the Layers:
We cut big layers, some 4" above the longest piece of hair, I cut bangs, just above my eyebrows, like Sharon Stone. The stylist approved of them, but added layers around to blend everything in.
How to Trim Short, Pixie Bangs on Your Own:
Use small, pointed scissors. With a comb or your fingers, pull your bangs straight up to the ceiling. Baby pixie bangs will fall forward. Snip the remaining ones about a quarter inch. Let your pixie bangs fall forward. Take them between your fingers (bang hair ends should be facing the floor) and holding your scissors so they are pointing the ceiling, quickly snip upward. This will create a jagged look and give those pixies some personality. Make as jagged as you like.
Style: Curly!
The layers gave my hair a younger, lighter look, which alowed for the sublte waves my hair has been having lately, to come together as one. Get a product, flip your hair and spray generously all over. Schrunch and dry fist-fulls of bunched hair.

Mop C-System Conditioning Mist
"A vitaming rich conditioning spray to enhance softness and manageability while providing a hint of control." - JoyBeauty.com
-Or-
John Frieda Dream Curl
How to Use:
Spray generously onto wet hair. Watch out, the spray could land all over your shoulders and bathroom mirror, so watch that nozzle. Scrunch in the fist of your hand, and blow-dry with warm air.
And for the fresh out of the ocean look for wavy hair:
How to Use:
Spray on hair and twist sections into little ringlets. Let hair stay in the ringlet as you get ready to leave the house, then let them unwind with the day, twisting them every now and then.
