But I know Austin of "Kept"! He's from my childbhood, a younger man in my life who may have had a summer-time crush. Austin always wanted to write (and did write me letters), and Jerry Hall just took him to the Whitbread thing, where he couldn't talk and schmooz. Austin was always a little awkward and super shy, but a great little (not so little, he's tall and was on the crew team at his college) summer-time crush - but was too young for me. Wow...

"Kept," apparently, is Jerry Hall's new reality show on VH1. She is selecting basically a boy toy, I think, who will be her 'kept man.'
My little friend Austin did not do so well last night b/c when he went to the Whitbread thing, he did not stop with her at the press area where celebs get their pictures taken. He lost points with her, and again lost baby points when he couldn't schmooze. Jerry introduced him to people as a writer, and he couldn't answer what he'd written, stating that he'd just graduated, but that he is, writing, or wants to be a writer. Now that's an answer a young writer has to perfect. Just not on cable. Poor Austin. But he's still in, as I think Jerry and her friends like his shy, boyish charm. He's basically Ethan Hawk with blond hair. Not that Ethan is boyish...
It's my new mission to watch bad new reality shows advertised in subways (b/c I don't watch enough TV to see the ads) just once, to know what the hell is going on. Hulk Hogan's show was on after Kept, and we watched him and his muscles parent his kids. I also saw Bobbi Brown's show. He is one crazy mo-fo'.
